Nusantara Culture Day at JISc: A Celebration of Diversity and Entrepreneurship
Jakarta, June 7, 2024 - The Jakarta Islamic School (JISc) recently held a vibrant and educational event, "Nusantara Culture Day," celebrating Indonesia's rich cultural heritage while promoting the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) values. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of grades 1 to 5, showcasing a unique blend of traditional performances, culinary delights, and market activities.
The day kicked off with energetic and colorful performances by students from grades 1 through 5. Each class presented traditional dances and musical acts, representing various regions of Indonesia. The children, dressed in stunning traditional costumes from across the archipelago, brought the diverse cultural heritage of Indonesia to life on stage. Parents and teachers watched with pride as the young performers exhibited their talents and deep appreciation for Indonesia's rich traditions.
Adding to the cultural immersion, the event featured stalls offering a variety of traditional Indonesian foods. Delicacies such as opak, serabi, and other regional treats were available for everyone to enjoy. These culinary offerings provided a delicious way for students and attendees to explore and appreciate the diverse flavors of Indonesian cuisine.
In the midst of the festivities, students took time for spiritual reflection by participating in prayers and reading Surah Al-Kahfi. This moment underscored the importance of maintaining spiritual practices and values even during celebrations, aligning with the principles of P5 which emphasize the development of moral and ethical values.
One of the highlights of the day was the market activity, where students engaged in buying and selling using the JISc dollar currency. This hands-on experience allowed students to practice basic economic principles, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy in a fun and interactive way. The market bustled with excitement as young traders showcased their negotiation skills and learned the value of money in a controlled and educational environment.
The entire event was designed to promote the values of Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5), which aims to develop well-rounded individuals who embody the core values of Pancasila: belief in one supreme God, a just and civilized humanity, the unity of Indonesia, democracy guided by inner wisdom, and social justice for all. Through activities that encouraged cultural appreciation, ethical values, and practical skills, JISc successfully integrated P5 principles into a memorable and impactful event for its students.
Nusantara Culture Day at JISc was not only a celebration of Indonesia's rich cultural tapestry but also an educational experience that fostered important life skills and values in young learners. The event highlighted the school's commitment to holistic education, preparing students to be culturally aware, morally grounded, and financially literate future leaders.
